Welcome to the Indian Alchemy website, exclusively dedicated to the art of Indian Alchemy or Rasa Shastra. Rasa Shastra is the ancient art of mineral, metal, gemstone and plant transmutation into medicines having a highly potent effect upon human health. After undergoing complex purification techniques, all manner of base materials are freed from their potential toxic constituents and refined into a state of perfection, capable of being absorbed by the human body and used to heal the most difficult of diseases. There are many base compounds capable of being reduced to Bhasma (alchemical ash) and then mixed with other potent herbs to enhance the affects of Rasa Medicine. This website is an introductory to these techniques and tries to answer some of the fundamentals of this ancient science using computer graphics, photography and electronic slide shows. Rasa Shastra - the Art of Vedic Alchemy, volumes 1-2-3 are an essential way to get inside Rasa Shastra quickly and learn its language. In conjunction with studies in Ayurveda and Jyotish this work will quickly conjoin to form an interlocking picture of why the Vedic sciences are so powerful and why they are beginning to gain so much popularity in the west.
